  • Fill half of the container with warm water and add some drops of liquid detergent
  • Snap the 2-Part lid into a locked position
  • Press the Start/Stop switch and running the machine for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Slowly increase the variable speed to ten, and then bring the variable speed back to
  • Rinse and drain the container, and let it dry or wipe it down.

If you want to sanitize, rather than clean the blender, you can add a little bleach and follow the same process shown above, letting the bleach mixture stand for 1-2 minutes before pouring the mixture out.

Vitamix 5300 vs 6500: The Differences

Container

Both the Vitamix 5300 and Vitamix 6500 are blenders which have a 64-ounce container. And it is in the 64-ounce container that you place your raw ingredients such as fruits, nuts, vegetables etc.

to be masticated. The 64-ounce size is very adequate and you can utilize this space to blend medium to large batches of juices, sauces, etc.

However, the slight difference between both 64-ounce containers, is that the container held by the Vitamix 5300 is low profile, this means the container is more narrow at the base – keeping ingredients in a tighter area, in comparison to the Vitamix 6500.

This means the Vitamix 5300 is able to masticate fewer ingredients at one time, although, it can process these ingredients with more energy.

However, on the other hand, the wider container base of the Vitamix 6300 is more ideal to blend for larger batches of ingredients.

Looking at these differences, it may be ideal for you to purchase the Vitamix 5300 to process medium batches more effectively, or, purchase the Vitamix 6300 to blend a larger amount of ingredients at one time.

Either way, both of the containers are 64-ounces, and are able to hold the same volume.

The Motor Base

As discussed above, the Motor base of both juicers (The Vitamix 6500 and the Vitamix 5300) are mostly similar.

However, the difference lies within the Pre-Programmed settings the Vitamix 6500 provides. The vitamix 6500 has 3 Pre-Programmed settings for convenience, which are soup, frozen desserts, and smoothies.

These pre-programmed settings provide walk-away convenience once an option is selected. Hence, this may be advantageous for you as you are able to insert your ingredients into the container, select and option and walk away, rather than actively operate the machine with the Vitamix 5300.

In essence, the Vitamix 6500 is more automatic with these settings in comparison to the 5300, and although this is a small difference, it may be the difference which determines the juicer you buy, the Vitamix 5300 and the Vitamix 6500?

In summary, Which Blender Should You Buy?

All in all, the ease of use, functionality, specifications, warranty and features are almost identical in both the Vitamix 5300 and the Vitamix 6500. As seen in the table above, making these blenders extremely similar, and if not, the same.

Ultimately, if you are looking for the objectively better blender and price is a non-issue, go for the Vitamix 6500 as it has 3 Pre-programmed features for ease of use and walk away convenience (smoothie, frozen dessert and soup).

As well as a high profile 64-ounce container which is able to fit a larger amount of ingredients at the base of the container for blending.

However, if you feel that the price difference cannot be justified for such small upgrades, then the Vitamix 5300 is definitely the way to go.

Hello.
Your review is very good and the comparison is spot on.
I worked in Hospitality for many years and I know Vitamix brand very well, not only for blenders but for dispensers too. As a Bartender for many years, I prepared tens of thousands of cocktails and many of them using powerful Vitamix Blenders.
They are highly recommended, I worked with other brands too, but I encountered issues.
Whilst with Vitamix I never had a problem. Extremely recommendable and reliable Machines.
Regarding this comparison, I believe they both achieve the function very well, however, for a high volume Bar Operation the 6500 it is more recommendable in my opinion, as well as for kitchen usage.
Best Regards
Pablo

The chef in me loves all the features of a vitamix. I think they are best suited for chefs and vegetarians who like their smoothies. I’ve cut back on my consumption of blended foods for now, but I do love the vitamix smoothies that I have tried.

That was a good comparison. I think I would prefer to go for 5300. As you said the difference is very minimal and paying more for 6500 is not justified. Which one would you buy out of the two?
